Hotel Yakushima Sanso, Yakushima (Kagoshima)

My room was spacious and clean, featuring a good view of the river and mountains. I appreciated the traditional Japanese tatami room, which offered a great place for me to relax. The private bathroom was an added bonus, and the wooden soaking tub was a wonderful touch, allowing for a soothing soak after a long day of hiking.

The food during my stay was truly really good. I enjoyed an elaborate multi-course dinner that showcased the local cuisine, providing a real taste of Yakushima. The experience was nice and definitely worth the reservation, as it was one of the best meals I had on the island.

The highlight of my bathroom experience was the wooden soaking tub, which felt incredibly authentic. It included a bench and a wooden bucket so I could wash off before enjoying my soak. This traditional Japanese bathing experience was a perfect way to unwind after a day of hiking.

The hotel features a communal bath, enhancing the overall wellness experience during my stay. although I didn't use it, I had a peek, and it looked inviting. After hiking, the idea of relaxing in a hot bath surrounded by nature was incredibly appealing. This added leisure feature made my stay even more enjoyable.
